If you live in Austin, check tonight's show at Emo's to sample Peter and the Wolf, who will be playing at the Unassociated Garden Party Thursday March 9 at Big Red Sun.
From the Whiskey & Apples label:
Peter & the Wolf (R. Hunter and a 20-piece chorus of junk-clanking hobos) will take the stage at 11:00 PM with mad new songs and a rare sound recording from one of their clandestine rituals. Mr. Hunter has recently taken vows as a Shaker high priest and has brought strange visions of salvation back from his trip to the Shakespeare ghost town west of El Paso. In case you aren't already a practitioner, Shakerism is a now-extinct sect that once reached ecstatic heights through wild surging movements to their own music.
Opening the show is Teddy and Marge (an Attic Ted side-project) and...
driving all the way from New Orleans...
the amazing one-of-a-kind music of Crooks and Nannies.
The show starts at 10pm, and closing the night will be Austin's much-loved Brothers and Sisters.
kasey's got a review of world jelly up, dude. (and both the chaps i just got look GREAT as usual.)
